In 48 hours I will be on the road, heading West. For a long, long time. Ned and I were given a 15 passenger van to cart all our stuff out there FOR FREE! It's our church youth group's old van, fondly nicknamed the "Ghetto Van." There's a reason it has that name. So we will be driving the "Ghetto Van" out to Seattle, praying all the way that it makes it!
We'll start out to SC, then west to New Mexico, where we'll be turning north, up through Colorado. We will be passing the Garden of the gods, where Ned first asked me out. We're going to have to make a sentimental stop there, especially since it is one of the most beautiful places in the world! Then we'll be going through Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, and Oregon. Places I have been dreaming of seeing for years! And from Oregon, we'll enter into Washington, our new home. I can't wait! The trip's going to take anywhere between 4-6 days, depending on traffic and how much endurance we have to drive 12+hour days one right after another. We can't drive too much more than 60 mph with the van towing our car, so that'll slow us down quite a bit. It'll be an adventure for sure!

Water from the Heavens
So I sign online and the top story that flashes on the news is that Seattle's experiencing its 24th consecutive day of rain. Forcasters are saying there's no break on the horizon. It's predicted to break the record of 33 days. Usually, they say, it will rain for about a week, and then just be cloudy and gray for a couple days before it starts up again. Oh yes, that's much better. Maybe it will all be out of its system by the time I get there?? :-/ Well, it's raining here too today.
The move's been postponed a week. My Dad has to go on an unexpected business trip to SEATTLE of all places, so we have to wait until he gets back to go down and say goodbye. Can't leave without saying goodbye to the folks. Meanwhile we're trying to figure out the best way to get our stuff out there, or decide if we even should take our stuff out there.

Flowery Goodbyes
The gigantous move looms ahead-- less than 2 weeks away. Jan. 19 is the official day. Today was the last day of my stint at the Dr.'s office. They sent me off with a bouquet of sunset colored roses- they are absolutely beautiful. Definitely the first time I have ever received flowers from a job. They asked me about 750 times if I would reconsider and stay to work there. Yeah right. (I answered them much more politely). To be honest, I felt a bit guilty, because I did not care much for the job at all and was excited about my last day, whereas they were all heart-broken and sad and one person almost cried. Don't get me wrong, my co-workers were really great people and I did enjoy getting to know them. But as for the job itself- no way. Answering phones at a Dr.'s office is just not the job of my dreams. But anyhow- let the weekend begin!!
